ROOT SPORTS is the television home of the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Kraken, Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle Seahawks, Portland Timbers, Seattle Seawolves, and Gonzaga Bulldogs. The network delivers more than 500 live events each year across a five-state footprint. ROOT SPORTS is operated by AT&T Sports Networks, which operates regional sports networks in the Northwest, Pittsburgh, Rocky Mountain, and Southwest regions. The four networks combined reach across 22 states and own exclusive rights to produce and distribute live events from more than 25 teams & conferences.

Position Overview:

ROOT SPORTS is looking for a qualified individual to join our marketing team.

This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of marketing.

The Marketing Intern plays a large role in supporting the department with their day-to-day operations and assist in the execution of marketing and communications projects supporting ROOT SPORTS. This position will support the marketing team with promotional content for our regional website, video posts, local event and community relations support, and game day responsibilities. Social media expertise is a must as the Marketing Intern will work directly with the Marketing Specialist to create robust social media promotions, and enhance existing platforms. Other support might include: digital content creation, promotional coordination as well as the development of marketing campaigns. We are looking for a rock star that can work as directed on their everyday tasks, but also come up with some new, fresh ideas and make them happen! A passion for sports is required (and it makes the job a lot more fun).

Qualifications:

• Interested in marketing, sales, and social media
• Strong working knowledge of major social media channels will be a key component in the success of this position (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of proper grammar, punctuation and spelling
• Passionate knowledge of regional sports teams both pro and collegiate, specifically the Seattle Kraken and Portland Trail Blazers
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented with strong management and organizational skills
• Willing to work during and outside of normal business hours
• Team player with a desire to learn and a solid sense of professionalism

Duration: 7 months, October through April, during the 2022-2023 NHL & NBA seasons

Hours: 20-25 hours/week

Reports to: Leslie Cox

Location: The position is based in Bellevue, WA, and remote and/or in-office work may be required.

This is a paid fellowship, though no relocation, transportation or housing assistance is available.
