Job Title: Mobile Advocate
Job Location: Kitsap County
Reports to: Executive Director
Classification: Non-Exempt Full Time
Salary Range: $22 - $25 hour (DOQ)
Schedule: Varied
(Attendance at Monday staff meetings, 1:00 – 2:00 pm in Port Orchard office is required).The schedule will vary occasionally to include holiday shifts (holiday pay rate applies)

KSAC has been running since 1975. We were formerly known as the Kitsap Sexual Assault Center. We wanted our new name to encompass our services as we have grown. In addition to sexual assault advocacy, we provide support groups, crime victim support, and community education.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides mobile advocacy to survivors of Sexual Assault in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive manner. The SA advocate is responsible for all aspects of sexual assault advocacy, including collaborations with local hospitals and SANE nurses to provide comprehensive victim services and perform crisis intervention and ongoing advocacy in person and over the phone. This may include accompanying clients to medical appointments, when appropriate. This position will work to create partnerships and support outreach to clients in underserved areas throughout the county.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES AND TASKS
Administration and Grant Reporting
- Remaining knowledgeable of all KSAC policies and procedures regarding client advocacy
- Maintaining current knowledge of community resources that support the needs of KSAC’s clients
- Completing and managing appropriate forms and files to ensure InfoNet and HMIS data entry is timely and accurate for all client services, per all grant compliance requirements
Advocacy, Client Relations, and Outreach
- Provide mobile advocacy to survivors of Sexual Assault, attend SANE appointments with clients when needed
- Provide mobile advocacy to clients in meetings with providers, law enforcement, prosecutors, hospital staff, court personnel, and other social service agency personnel
- Provide in-person and telephone advocacy for sexual assault survivors.
- Provide survivors with crisis intervention and advocacy.
- Provide medical advocacy.
- Complete sexual assault survivor follow-ups and ongoing case management
- Providing culturally appropriate advocacy support, resource materials, and safety planning for KSAC’s diverse clients as needed
- Recommending policies and or procedures to increase client safety, shelter housing, client confidentiality, and advocate services, coordinating with advocates and team members to enhance client support and services
- Participate in strategic community outreach initiatives, as required, to generate awareness about KSAC and represent the organization, per grant requirements
- Complete and maintain self-care plans to address compassion fatigue, vicarious, secondary, and direct trauma
- Assist with the training and prevention education of Sexual Assault
- Maintain current on all appropriate SA or mobile advocacy training
- Deliver high-quality services as the subject matter expert for SA advocacy for KSAC
Education and Experience
- GED or HS diploma required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, written fluency in Spanish to assist with document translation, a plus
- Associate degree or higher in social work or related field, a plus
- Two years community service, social work or legal DV/SA advocacy experience, a plus
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and state-required minimum automobile insurance coverage
- Ability to travel independently
- Current COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card
- Ability to interact professionally with diverse clients, staff, community members, civic leaders, first responders, law enforcement, and hospital staff
- Strong verbal communication skills
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other data management systems
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- This position requires flexibility in scheduling and job function as some services require 24-hour coverage
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
This position works in a fast-paced, crisis-oriented environment which can be emotionally taxing. Staff must always remain calm and often must deal with tense situations appropriately and immediately when interacting with clients, staff, community members, law enforcement and first-responders. Much of an Advocate’s time is spent providing face/face and phone-based client services as well as responding to individuals in crisis on hotline calls; time at a computer or performing other duties as needed is expected. Employees must be able to lift or carry 15 – 30 pounds and push/pull 30 – 40 pounds. Position also requires being able to sit/stand for hours at a time.
Required Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocate Core Training (Provided by KSAC post-hiring)
- Minimum 30 hours of training and education
30-hour Sexual Assault Core (WCSAP Approved)
