2nd Shift - 1:45pm - 10:00pm M-F + 10% shift differential

Essential Functions:

This position is responsible for the following tasks, duties, and responsibilities:

  • Plan personnel, materials, and due dates. (Personnel allocations will be discussed with supervision).
  • Work with Supervision to schedule upcoming jobs.
  • Responsible for jobs allocated to assure schedule is attained.
  • Set up job for production when necessary
  • Train allocated personnel when necessary
  • Assure Quality inspections are requested.
  • Verify shift reports are correct
  • Verify movement tags for inventory are correct and complete.
  • Responsible for job completion and clean up.
  • Report to supervisor when the job is complete so the supervisor can work with Scheduling and Materials to close the job.
  • All rejected product should be dealt with by the end of each shift. If it cannot be repaired and included on the job it should be entered as scrap parts. The scrap parts should be disposed at that time. The scrap rates will be evaluated with supervision.
  • Maintain an above average attendance
    • Must have a willingness to work overtime as needed including Saturdays and Sundays
  • Maximize effort to reduce operating costs whenever possible. Cost reductions and increased efficiencies in material and personnel utilization must be sought continuously.
  • Work on assignments where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in solving problems and developing recommendations.
  • Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
  • Coordinate efforts with supervision to ensure an efficient approach to problem solving.
  • Work closely with Supervision and Quality Control to ensure the smooth flow of materials from raw material receipt through finished goods release.
  • Provide support for the Manufacturing departments involvement with TMM and assist in training as required.
  • Provide assistance to all areas of the Manufacturing department as needed.
  • Continue to increase personal knowledge of the entire manufacturing process.
  • Report any issues with standards to supervision so this can be coordinated with Estimation.
  • Assure compliance with regulatory requirements, good manufacturing practices and Standard Operating Procedures. Safety is a primary concern. We must operate safely at all times.
  • Contribute to and assist in a group effort to produce the highest quality products.
  • Work as efficiently as possible and continually move toward ways of maximizing the manufacturing operating efforts with supervision. Participate in-group meetings established to improve current practices.
  • Work directly with manufacturing employees. Provide the leadership required to complete jobs to standard at acceptable Quality levels. Provide feedback on performance regularly to supervision and employees.
  • Provide training and supervise progress of training to enhance subordinate performance and their ability to meet their objectives.
  • Assure all allocated personnel are using TMM accurately and the time allocated to jobs is filled out correctly.
  • Verify all temporary and permanent personnel on the jobs are signed out of shifts.
  • Oversee the efficiency and use of indirect hours put on the job. Supervisors will allocate training schedules to improve versatility of the personnel across various work centers,
  • Drive progress of key performance indicators (KPI’s) on the floor.
  • This position is designed to act as backup to the shift supervisor and must understand all components of the job to assure customer satisfaction.
  • The authority to discipline is the responsibility of the supervisors and will be dealt with on an individual basis. Note: It is important for both Leads and the Supervisors to convey the importance of tracking scrap and rejected product on the job to assess the efficiency of the job quote and a means to improve the job process, not as a means of discipline.
  • Identify and report any unsafe work conditions, behaviors, or incidents.
  • Follow and adhere to all safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.

Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade School for specific Plastics Fabrication a plus- CNC, Thermoforming, Fabrication.
  • Competent in Computer Skills.
  • Demonstrated print reading capability.
  • 5 years manufacturing experience with Fabrication and set up experience.
  • Proven training record on set-up and job structure.
  • Ability to lead groups of hourly operators.
  • This position requires communication skills both written and verbal to supervision of the organization critical to meet both internal and external customer requirements. It is also essential in communication with both supervision and hourly employees on the floor to keep personnel informed and utilize their abilities.
  • Job efficiencies and TMM utilization requires offline calculations for work center utilization and communication to estimation and scheduling. Set-up and control of jobs requires mathematical calculations and print reading.

Good common sense and problem solving is a must. To succeed in this position the reasoning skills of the individual must be very good to enable the balance of all jobs and to solve the issues that present themselves in production

  • Ability to coordinate the entire manufacturing of the product from raw material through the manufacturing operation to placement of roll stock in the assigned areas.
  • Ability to read workorders and load the appropriate raw materials in the correct proportions to produce roll stock to specifications.
  • Ability to manage employees and build a team effort.
  • Ability to motivate personnel to reach their individual performance goals with constant and consistent improvements to methods and processes to assure our overall goals is attained.
  • Basic knowledge of scheduling and inventory control.
  • Basic knowledge of all raw material used.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of Current Good Manufacturing Practices standard operating procedures and product specifications.
  • Familiarity with extruders, process equipment and its use.
  • Ability to adjust to unpredictable situations that requires immediate time and attention

  • Visual acuity, manual dexterity, and hand function are required to inspect and handle product.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs on an occasional basis.
