We're looking for an exceptional School Social Worker for a full-time position in the Oak Park area for the 2023/2024 school year. This therapist will work 37.5 hours per week on-site and perform functions to counsel and assist students and families in improving social, emotional, and behavioral needs and deficiencies.
Job Summary:
1. Crisis Intervention. Actively participate on and/or lead school crisis intervention team.
2. Assess the behavioral and emotional needs of students using formal and informal testing instruments. As part of this assessment the social worker may need to conduct observations of students in classroom and non-classroom settings, review records, interview parents, consult with parents and school personnel, administer assessments and interpret diagnostic findings.
3. Counsel students whose behavior, school progress, or mental or physical handicap or condition indicates need for assistance.
4. Lead group sessions to enhance social and emotional development of students and provide peer support.
Job Requirements for School Social Worker:
- 1 year of verifiable, professional experience as an School Social Worker within the last 3 years (may include residency or clinical practicum)
- Valid Social Worker credential/license or in process in state of practice
