About us

Olivet Academy, a private elementary school, is seeking a special education teacher for students with disabilities and special needs.

This is a full-time position for the 2023-24 school year.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the lead teacher of each classroom to provide direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities and special needs

• Assist in development of Individualized Education Programs (IEP)
• Regular assessment and monitoring of students’ academic progress appropriate for grade-level standards
• Regular communication with teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians of students with disabilities, reporting individualized assessment results, goals and progress

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Fluency with learning theory, differentiated instruction, best instructional practices, child development, and applied behavior analysis
• Knowledge in methods of teaching elementary math and reading
• Works well with students with disabilities, teachers and parents/guardians of students with disabilities
• Excellent communication skills

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in special education

• Meet Maryland State Department of Education certification requirements for Special Education

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a special education teacher

Desired Experience:

• Experience working with children with learning disability, ADHD, hearing loss, special needs related to speech and expressive language, social and behavior self-management
• Experience with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) special education program

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
