As a sterile processing technician, your duties include:

• Maintains a clean and orderly central processing work area (e.g. shelves, counters, equipment)
• Adheres to the sterilization process policies and procedures
• Cleans each item according to manufacturer’s instruction
• Inspects instruments for damage and defects; lubricates items as required
• Determines that each item is in good working condition
• Sorts and arranges items into proper packs
• Wraps packs and individual items according to policy and procedure
• Accurately labels each item with name and expiration date
• Correctly operates sterilizers, ultrasonic washer and other equipment for processing items
• Positions items correctly in sterilizer and selects proper cycles
• Checks indicators for proper functioning
• Performs required biological/chemical monitoring tests on all sterilizers and maintains logs
• Maintains availability of supplies for continuity of recording throughout sterilization process
• Cleans sterilizers according to established policies and procedures
• Maintains inventory levels and accurate records; Places items in correct locations
• Checks for outdated items and package integrity of wrapped sterilized items; replaces items as necessary
• Maintains and updates the instrument inventory list

Starting wage is based upon experience. This is an entry-level position at our hospital.

Salary: $15.00 to $17.00 /hour
