Summer Camp Assistant (Part-time) Job at Steam Kidz Lab
Join our team of Summer Camp Assistants to help our Counselors teach our hands-on, fun, engaging Science & STEAM Camps for kids ages 5-10 that are taught throughout the summer across various locations in Fairfax County. It is a great opportunity for college students or teachers to teach in the Summer!
The Camp Assistant reports to our Summer Camp Director and is responsible for assisting the Camp Counselors with the supervision of the campers. The assistant will be supporting the daily administration of the Summer Camp program, to ensure we provide a fun and safe environment for our campers, complete required paperwork and conduct the daily camp activities as per the provided curriculum and materials. We expect our Camp assistants to be respectful, patient, responsible and courteous with our campers and other staff members.
- The available positions are seasonal and can be either Part-Time or Full-Time, offering 32 to 40 hours per week.
- Camp locations are at Elementary schools around Fairfax County in Alexandria, Annandale, Falls Church, McLean, Lorton, Oakton, Springfield, Vienna, Herndon and Centerville.
- Compensation ranges from $12-16_ per hour (depending on position, qualifications, and experience)_
- Applicants who do not complete the indeed assessments will not be considered!
Job Duties:
- Show up ON TIME at the designated location. We are responsible for the children.
- Setup for Camp using the supplies provided
- Teach the camp (Camps are setup as 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm with a supervised lunch)
- Ensure the students leave with the designated pickup person.
Requirements:
- Be over the age of 18 and a high school graduate.
- Be able to commute and have a reliable method of transportation
- Have a demonstrated ability to inspire, entertain and teach kids.
- Be fun-loving, warm and high-energy, and have a sense of humor.
- Be highly intelligent.
- Have a passion for science and creative thinking.
- Maintain a neat and clean appearance.
- Speak clear English; second-language skills are a plus.
- Have basic computer skills.
- Be a team player.
- Be physically able to perform classroom demonstrations and activities effectively and safely.
- Be physically and psychologically able to maintain a safe, orderly environment with large groups of young children in a highly active setting.
- Consent to and pass a criminal and health background check for working with children.
- Be drug-free.

Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
