Stevens Elementary, an Expeditionary Learning School located in the heart of the Wheat Ridge, CO serves a population of 318 students preK-5th grade. We take pride in meeting the academic and social emotional needs of our wonderfully diverse student body. Students are immersed in rich reading experiences grounded in Expeditionary Learning, which leads to hands on experiences in our Stevens Design Labs, on excursions, and in our Wheat Ridge community. Our team creates indoor and outdoor instructional spaces where students can apply their learning. SUMMARY: Responsible for instructing students in an elementary grades K-6. Creates lesson plans, instructs students on core subjects such as science, literature, and math, and creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional preparedness based on the District's Core Curriculum. Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.

Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.

Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.

Participate in ongoing training sessions.

Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.

Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.

Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.

Utilize various curriculum resources and technologies to enhance student learning.

Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.

Utilize District curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.

Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

Prepare and distribute parent communications.

Observe and evaluate student's performance.

Manage student behavior in the classroom creating appropriate behavior strategies.
