Contractors Steel powered by UPG is looking hire a Truck Loader to join our dynamic team! Contractors Steel is a growing steel service center that has been in business for almost 60 years. Successful candidates will have ideally worked in the steel industry (but not required) and have a solid level of experience with the types of specialized products and services produced by steel service centers. We are looking for a detail-oriented candidate that is eager to learn and grow in this fast-paced environment. We strive to build strong relationships with our customers by providing high level of service, value-add opportunities, and professionalism in all interactions, allowing us to become a valued member of their supply chain and production teams.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Receives, distributes, and stores steel products as directed in designated locations.
• Identifies and pulls steel product from stock by operating an overhead crane or forklift.
• Moves steel product from one location to another by operating an overhead crane or forklift.
• Assists in reviewing shipments for quality and accuracy; as well as reviews accompanying documents for accuracy.
• Confirms shipping details or special instructions on work orders prior to moving product.
• Transports and loads steel products, supplies, and finished goods (manually and/or using hand trucks and skids, or cranes).
• Operate tractor/trailer combo when necessary.
• When problems arise, resolves issues with contractors or vendors.
• Collects and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping; maintains a safe and clean work environment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED equivalence
• Able to work any shift
• 2 years of related experience preferred
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Good math and written communication skills
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to complete criminal background check and drug screen per company guidelines
