UX Center of Excellence Lead Job at Daimler Truck North America
Inside the Role
As the UX Center of Excellence (CoE) lead, you will have end-to-end ownership of building and continuously improving the company wide CoE. You have a great deal of experience leveraging human-centered design methodologies and leadership skills to enable designers create compelling and useful digital experiences. You will lead UX CoE initiatives to grow and further mature the UX practice at Daimler Truck, enabling DTNA to be the industry-leader in digital solutions that inspires teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible and deliver quality solutions. You will act with professionalism and maturity, and seamlessly manage multiple workstreams and lead multiple people while bringing energy and creativity to work each day.
In your day-to-day you will define processes to enhance the UX practice, socialize the COE scope and processes, review designs, influence local and global stakeholders, build and maintain the UX community, on- and off-board external partners into our design system and prepare executive communications.

Position offers a starting salary range of $98,500 - $126,000 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

- Lead the buildup and operations of the processes, integrations, design system, community of practice, toolchain and documentation for the COE
- Representation and advocacy for the voice of the user, leveraging research, observation, data, and best practices to inform innovative new experiences, and holistic thinking about the impact of your work on both the customer journey and the business
- Envision and navigate complex UX ecosystems, identify and set digital product strategy
- Creative thinking with significant experience in leveraging human-centered design methodologies to create compelling and useful digital experiences
- Close collaboration with other designers, strategists, developers, product managers and owners, and business stakeholders to practice human-centered software design
Knowledge You Should Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or IT related field, or 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree
- 5+ years of experience in managing or leading digital product design teams
- Portfolio of UX-focused work samples, particularly multi-channel experiences ranging from substantial content to complex workflows
- Ability to take a leadership role on projects and teams, including delegating tasks and collaborating with team members with other skillsets;
- Act as a mentor and liaison to CoE UX Leads
- Experience working across organizational boundaries to define, manage and prioritize work, with a collaborative and innovative approach
- Excellent communication, presentation, storytelling and analytical skills
- Experience with and/or desire to work with distributed clients and/or project teams
- Design and recommend engagement research approach and activities, from stakeholder interviews to contextual inquiry, from analytics analysis to user testing, all based in with sound methodology
- Identify and create the best UX approach for a given project, from research and discovery activities to uncover user-center insights, to flow diagrams and prototypes that define a complex user flow, to detailed wireframes that define the information and interaction design
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts clearly across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
- In-depth experience delivering UX activities and artifacts including quantitative and qualitative research, design thinking workshops, task and gap analysis, ux writing, feature/functionality matrices, personas, user journeys, usability evaluation, site architecture, wireframes, flow diagrams, prototypes, user requirements documents
- Experience working in an agile environment
- Experience planning and facilitating working sessions with clients and project teams
- Participation and/or thought leadership in the UX community
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
- Background experience in UX consultancy
- Strong IT development experience
- Expertise in automotive industry, specifically in automotive manufacturing
