The Vice President of Private Wealth Consulting is responsible for managing the Private Wealth Consulting (PWC) team. Under general direction with a high level of autonomy, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to manage and direct the strategies of to assist Raymond James financial advisors in building and expanding their planning services practice. Extensive contact with internal and external clients/contacts is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with Senior Leadership to strategize and align with the firm’s financial and wealth planning values and goals.
  • Performs management activities, including identifying performance problems and seeking guidance for remedial action; reviewing performance and participating in interviewing and selecting staff.
  • Plans, assigns, monitors, reviews, evaluations and leads the work of others.
  • Coaches and mentors subordinates, identifies training needs and recommends appropriate development programs.
  • Continually evaluates department structure and strategic plan, including future growth as needed, to promote overall efficiency while maintaining a commitment to excellent service.
  • Establishes current year and long range and operational goals and objectives and ensures processes and procedures support efficient and timely work flow.
  • Acts as a consultant to RJ financial advisors and their clients regarding our Private Wealth Consulting team services.
  • Ensures that a consistent Wealth Planning process is implemented and adhered to by the PWC team.
  • Delivers presentations on financial planning services at RJ PCG Conferences. in RJ branch offices, and at industry conferences, as needed.
  • May create and deliver educational content to home office associates and financial advisors through RJU and Raymond James Institute of Finance classes.
  • May create content and present at conferences and programs attended by CPAs and attorneys.
  • Edits and approves articles, white papers and/or bulletins related to various complex wealth planning topics.
  • Scope of responsibilities encompasses wealth planning, financial planning, consulting and broad solutions initiatives.
  • Proactively supports opportunities to digitize and integrate Wealth Planning processes and related software solutions for the firm.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, investments and insurance based products.
  • Advanced concepts and regulations related to retirement planning, estate planning, business continuation, and financial planning.
  • Company’s working structure, policies, mission, strategies, and compliance guidelines.
  • Concepts, practices and procedures of the securities industry.
  • Principles of finance and securities industry operations.
  • Experienced with regulatory supervision practices including Department of Labor regulations.

Skill in:

  • Developing and implementing strategies and tactical plans; anticipating obstacles and defining alternative strategies.
  • Preparing and delivering clear, effective, and professional presentations.
  • Effective questioning and listening techniques.
  • Constantly remaining aware of firm and industry best practices through networking and research.
  • Regulatory supervision and firm policies as they relate to supervision oversight.
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, and presentations.

Ability to:

  • Balance conflicting resources and priority demands.
  • Resolve problems and use independent judgment in making decisions.
  • Keep all appropriate parties up-to-date on decisions, changes, and other relevant information.
  • Establish and communicate clear directions and priorities.
  • Organize, prioritize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments, including those delegated, in an area with frequently changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Use appropriate interpersonal styles and communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels to accomplish objectives.
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or university in related field and ten to fifteen (10-15) years of progressive responsibility in the financial, retirement and estate planning field, which must include five to ten (5-10) years in a managerial role with meaningful leadership experience and extensive contacts.

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • SIE required provided that an exemption or grandfathering cannot be applied.
  • Series 7 license, Series 66 (63/65), Series 9/10 and/or 24 preferred.
  • CFP or ChFC designation required.
  • Any other licenses or designations required by management.
