Canteen Corrections is seeking experienced candidates to work for County Correctional facilities. We are currently seeking a Commissary Clerk. (Detroit & Hamtramck)

Primary Purpose:

Provides administrative support for the sale of all edible and non-edible goods to jail inmates as well as inventory processing duties inside of the County Jail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver commissary good to inmates.
• Satisfactorily perform duties alone on the jail housing units/floors for periods of time.
• Competently operate Commissary equipment including software and ordering system.
• Transport goods from the jail receiving dock to the assigned location or Commissary shelf storage facility.
• Assist with taking weekly counts of all inventory.
• Maintain a record of sales in the manner and form approved by the Commissary Management for recording daily sales in the Commissary computer.
• Maintain a clean cart, storage area and use proper trash containers.
• Handle situations that require prompt attention and/or action and immediately report issues.
• Retain, follow, and implement general information and detailed instructions.
• Observe and monitor ongoing activities inside of the Commissary as well as activity taking place around the carts while on the inmate floors.
• Assist in posting specials and promotions, checking-in vendors; setting and stocking merchandise, and displays.
• Maintain, clean and organized work space and equipment to ensure in proper working condition.

Other (Non-Essential) Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate and/or lead special projects.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned from time to time by management.
• Maintain jail required documentation and communication.

Job Requirements:

• Equivalent work experience in the industry acceptable.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Two or more years in warehousing, customer service or food service required.
• Clear background check, drug screen, and TB test results.

Typical Physical Demands:

• Work requires some computer usage.
• Requires lifting from 25-50 pounds.
• Regular phone & email usage.
• Extended periods of time sitting/standing.
• Walking required.

Typical Working Conditions:

• Work in a secured jail environment.
• Flexibility required throughout the packing process.
• Availability to work mornings & afternoons.
