Your responsibilities

Summary of Position: Conducts the administration of U.S. and Canadian benefit plans such as life, health, and dental, flexible spending plans, COBRA, pension plans, 401(k) and RRSP.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Act as liaison between benefit providers, HR site coordinators and employees to investigate discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations for problem resolution, including reviewing claims and researching problems as they arise
  • Resolve customer problems in a timely and efficient manner
  • Manage coordination between payroll and benefits to ensure accurate status changes including reconciling payroll deductions pertaining to benefits
  • Manage the process of open enrollment and plan benefit plan renewal for US and Canada.
  • Develop periodic reports from Benefit Administration Site and provide analysis
  • Coordinate information for administration of filing 5500 reports
  • Process pension distribution requests and coordinate pension compliance issues with the third-party administrator
  • Review and analyze benefit contracts and documents for accuracy and compliance
  • Assist in the development, communication, and distribution of benefit plans materials to employees
  • Maintain confidential employee benefit files and other record keeping
  • Reconcile monthly invoices from related vendors and manage approval for payment
  • Analyze legal compliance requirements and interpret ERISA laws
  • Lead or assist in projects pertaining to companywide benefits changes or process improvements as assigned
  • Assist auditors and ensure regulatory compliance

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
  • Customer service experience

Preferred Requirements:

  • 6-12 months relevant experience
  • Master’s Degree in a related field of study
  • Project leadership experience
  • Process improvement experience

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong math skills or basic accounting skills
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, analytical and problem solving experience
  • Ability to work under general direction and meet or exceed project deadlines
  • General knowledge and experience with using HRIS
  • Advanced skills utilizing Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
