Panama City Port Authority Job Description

Position: Dry-Bulk Maintenance Employee

Reports to: Dry-Bulk Manager

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ensure tasks are safely and effectively carried out as assigned by the Dry-Bulk Manager.
• Wear all required PPE to safely complete tasks.
• Promptly report unsafe acts, incidents, and injuries to the Dry-Bulk Manager.
• Daily inspection of equipment, and reporting repair/service needs to the Dry-Bulk Manager.
• Assist Dry-Bulk Manager with keeping maintenance records.
• Keep productive throughout the work shift, including maintenance tasks when cargo terminal activity is not busy.
• Make sure work areas stay clean and organized.
• Perform the necessary mechanical work as needed, i.e. Bearing replacement, motor swaps, etc.
• Be willing to come in on (off)times when urgent repair is needed to keep operation running.

Certificates and Licenses:
- Valid Driver’s License and current Forklift Certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of and skills in using hand tools, including wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, measuring tapes, etc.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
• Ability to read and comprehend safety manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, test materials, drawings, schematics, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write legibly to complete maintenance records.
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
• Basic knowledge of conveyor systems.

Physical Demands:
- Ability to see and hear 100% of the time.

• Ability to safely walk on uneven and slick surfaces 100% of the time.
• Climb on and off equipment 50% of the time.
• Able to bend, stoop, and kneel 50% of the time.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ability to talk and hear well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers, and managers.
• Ability to see well enough to read operating and maintenance instructions, and safely operate equipment.
• Ability to lift and carry various heavy objects as necessary to carry out operations.

Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to heat, cold, humidity, dust, fumes, noise, and inclement weather conditions.

• Normal workday is 7AM-4PM, however the employee will be required to work hours outside normal schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime to be expected.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
