Job Summary:
The Vertex Summer Internship Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. The Global Medical Communications/Communications, Innovation and Research (CI&R) Intern will provide a supportive role in the development of medical education tools, publications and content databases that support medical teams across Global Medical Affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and update various types of print and digital content, including tables, charts, figures, infographics, photography, video, posters, logos, and templates
  • Build, own, and maintain a comprehensive library of design assets for reusable, systematic designs/templates
  • Review, refine, edit, and prepare files for final delivery, which includes proofing, retouching, pre- and post-production, versioning, resizing, and updating design assets with new images or copy as needed
  • Manage files from external vendors, contractors, and internal team as needed to maintain consistency across file naming, taxonomy, organization, tracking, and version control
  • Assist in updating content imagery, including use of stock and original assets
  • Oversee third-party digital, print, and production agencies to develop quality, on-brand materials.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to understand how the Global Medical Communications team collaborates with multiple functions, including Clinical Development, Real World Evidence, Health Economics and Outcomes Research, etc.
  • Develop an understanding of the roles and structure of a pharmaceutical company.
  • Ensure compliance with Vertex policies and procedures and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in a PharmD program with at least 1 or 2 years completed.
  • Demonstrated strong academic achievement (GPA 3.0 or above)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere)
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with video filming, editing, and production.
  • Strong knowledge of building HTML based interactives.
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience creating campaigns and extending the look and feel through various materials
  • Audio/podcasting, website, UI/UX, and motion graphics experience a plus
  • Familiarity and experience with production and printing processes
  • Ability to simplify complex ideas, information, and data into concise, clear visuals
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, follow-through, attention to detail and high sense of urgency
  • Flexible and able to succeed in a rapidly changing, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills; a collaborator and team-player
