QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient keyboarding skills
  • Documented ability to work with others
  • Documented successful job performance
  • Documented knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment
  • Documented skill in computer applications
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work and manage time
  • Documented above average oral and written communication skills
  • Documented successful experience as a secretary or specific secretarial training
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

: High School Principal

Status: Non-exempt

Contract Length or Terms of Employment: Hours and work year established by the Superintendent with the approval of the Board of Directors. Rate of pay established by the Board of Directors and the Master Agreement.

JOB GOAL


To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the high school office. To provide a competent and positive response to the public.


BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to:


  • To greet all visitors courteously, and to direct or escort them to the proper area.
  • To fulfill public relations activities, especially those related to visitors, to answer office telephone courteously, to deliver messages, and to respond appropriately to requests for information and to maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents and the community.
  • To perform the usual office routines and practices associated with a productive and efficient office.
  • To perform the necessary clerical duties associated with the office including typing of reports and correspondence and the keeping of various records and inventories.
  • To open the office and to secure the office according to the hours set by the building principal. (unlock/lock safe, start/turn off copier, engage/adjust switchboard).
  • To assume various typing responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
  • To sort and deliver mail/packages.
  • To order, process and distribute supplies.
  • To receive and direct incoming calls and to place long distance calls.
  • To send transcripts of alumni to numerous agencies as requested.
  • To maintain a regular filing system.
  • To arrive and depart from the building as scheduled.
  • To expand training and skills in job-related areas.
  • To be well organized and professional in fulfilling the responsibilities of job.
  • To treat all students, faculty, and staff courteously and to cooperate with and work in a courteous manner with co-workers and other personnel.
  • To demonstrate a positive attitude toward school, students and job and to communicate the same to the community.
  • To accept constructive criticism and suggestions and to seek to improve each performance responsibility.
  • To maintain confidentiality in the school operation.
  • To dress appropriately for the position and work required.
  • To adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations, board policies and administrative rules.
  • To assume such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the principal.
