Georgia Pacific is seeking their next Material Handler in Emporia, VA. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Material Handler to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate movement of materials throughout our warehouse and production facility. You will play a key role in ensuring that our products are manufactured safely and delivered to our customers on time and at the highest level of quality.

What You Will Do

• Ensure accurate labeling and scanning of finished product within department
• Monitor and utilize KANBAN system to identify materials needed
• Stage materials to ensure no disruption of production flow; stage materials for on-coming shift
• Monitor inventory levels and provide constant communication with production.
• Audit finished goods for accuracy (# count)
• Comply with all packaging requirements within department.
• Practice 5-S and workplace organization functions to ensure area is clean and safe
• Practice safe work behaviors, complying with all safety rules and guidelines.
• Responsible for all other jobs as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 50-75 lbs. on occasion
• Ability to work in fluctuating temperatures & outdoors on occasion as needed
• Frequently required to stand and walk; use hands to finger manipulation, handle, and feel; reach with arms and hands above head; talk and hear
• Sometimes required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit
• Specific vision requirements: close, distant, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Basic Qualifications

• Ability to operate forklift and other material handling equipment
• Familiarization with inventory control
• Experience with Microsoft Office products

What Will Put You Ahead

• 2 years of forklift experience
• Prior material handler or warehouse experience
