Mind/Body Intervention Specialist Job at MD Anderson Cancer Center
Performs advanced-level interventions and trains others to conduct specialized interventions, in addition to conducting research protocols and assisting in writing grants.
** The ideal candidate will have experience with yoga interventions**
** This is a part time 30 hours a week position**
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Intervention Delivery Instructs and leads yoga interventions as set forth in research protocols in person or via videoconference. This includes assisting in developing and modifying interventions to fit within a research study model. Reviews patient chart for contraindications/precautions for mind-body interventions. Assess or evaluates the patient prior to and throughout the intervention. Traveling to MD Anderson satellite centers to teach classes to participants being treated in these satellite centers may be required in the future.
Data Collection and Patient Safety. Provides intervention to the patient as deemed appropriate. Prepares written reports, treatment fidelity checklists, progress notes, and other intervention documentation. Ensures a safe environment, and maintains equipment and supplies in a clean, operable, and safe manner. Follows institutional infection control policies. Schedule patients for their intervention classes and ensure compliance. Collects questionnaire and objective physical performance data. Records and download intervention classes for quality control measures. Conducts follow-up phone/video calls of participants and motivates practice as well as assesses barriers to practice using motivational interviewing techniques. Ensures a safe environment, maintains equipment and supplies in a clean, operable, and safe manner, and follows institutional infection control.
Intervention Development Assists in developing research study protocols related to the yoga intervention. Collaborates with appropriate faculty and staff to conduct research in various populations to study mind/body interventions. Meets with clinicians to discuss feasibility, logistics, and overall conduct of research studies.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: None. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Experience with Yoga Interventions.
