Why does the job exist?
The purpose of this position will be to handle all inmate related property matters. This will include; at a minimum, intake and inventory upon arrival to the facility, process of all new property acquired, disposition of property to be disposed of, hobby craft orders, database and file entries for accurate accountability, and response to requests by inmates related to these matters. The property clerk will also provide support to the warehouse officer as needed.
How does it get done?
- Provide direct support to Warden
- Maintain confidential personnel records, inventory control, purchasing requests and facility training logs
- Keep record of vehicle fleet and any corresponding issues such as maintenance records and repair requests
- Receive and disseminate correspondence as required
- Archive facility files
- Assist with scheduling interviews as well as training newer support staff
- Maintain daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports

Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and six (6) months of directly related experience in office administration. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with and supervision of inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
