My Brother’s Keeper is a comprehensive community-based resource center in West Baltimore. My Brother’s Keeper offers a wide range of support to the community members of the Irvington neighborhood. From youth services to work development, we believe that reaching out with specific programs in the area while providing the community a safe place with a positive atmosphere can effectively engage families.
Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a Security Program Assistant who provides information, assistance, and security to the program and its guests. The ideal candidate will conduct their work in a welcoming and hospitable manner towards all clients, volunteers, and visitors through their personal actions and assistance.
The work schedule is Wednesday – Sunday, 8:30am-4:30pm.
My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) is a Multi-faceted Community-Based Resource Center in West Baltimore that provides a Daily Meal serving Program 7 days a week to the Irvington Community. Job Placement, Case Management Services, Behavioral Health Services, Substance Use Services, Health Clinic, Benefits Eligibility Services, GED Program, Expungements, Computer Literacy, PNC Mobile Bank and ATM Access, and Monthly Workshops are provided to assist guests with the achievement of self-sufficiency.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides security to the facility by inspecting the persons and property of visitors and clients prior to allowing them entrance to the facility.
- Conduct periodic security checks throughout the building and report unusual activity to supervision.
- Respond to, and assist, in emergency property and/or security incidents.
- Provide general assistance to guests and assist in various aspects of delivery of services including assisting in the operation of meals, clothing, laundry, and restroom.
- Assist in housekeeping matters, including maintenance and upkeep of the buildings/storage area/monitors monthly the appropriate operation of the facility’s equipment, including interior systems and exterior grounds maintenance and report necessary repairs to the supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- One year of related experience preferably working with the homeless or at-risk populations.
REQUIREMENTS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to utilize, or willingness to learn computer systems and software, necessary to perform position functions. (Basic computer, web browsing, online training, and email usage skills.)
- Good social skills with respectful demeanor toward staff, clients, and visitors.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Ability to intervene between 2 or more people in a non-violent manner
- Knowledge of basic concepts of personal care, housekeeping, and other care areas
- Driving is required for this position.
- Must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence. There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede driver’s ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
