Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA or CF-SLP) Job at Bellflower Speech, Language & Literacy

We provide a range of services, but specialize in feeding, speech, fluency, and language and literacy, all from a trauma-informed perspective. Based on community need, we are now looking to expand our team to include an SLPA.
Position will W2, guaranteed 20 hours. The ideal candidate will be excited to grow with the company and will desire a position focused on continuous professional growth and learning opportunities. Cross-professional mentorship and guidance from a knowledgeable and skilled pediatric SLP will be encouraged due to shared caseload. This position is not for individuals who do not want to transition to full time 37-40-hours over a period. The ideal candidate will have a passion for pediatrics (0-18 years), feeding, speech, language, and other typically expected pediatric speech therapy needs. Candidates should expect to work with children with a varying degree of severity and diagnoses. Common diagnoses may include Autism, Developmental delay, feeding, Dyslexia, apraxia of speech, and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Position will be primarily office-based with possibility of 1 off-site private preschool. All pediatrics. Small private practice.
Details: W2, guaranteed 20 hours to start. Caseload to build over time to full-time.
- W2 salary expectations are 40-72k annual + benefits (actual salary dictated by hours worked, productivity).

Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, great references, and a bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology/Communication Sciences
- We will hire interns with prerequisites for a license in the state of Texas
- Openness to working with children of all ages Bilingual in Spanish and English a HUGE Plus

- Strong communication skills are required, as the SLPA/CF-SLP will also need to maintain contact with parents and teachers
- The less exciting part of this job is also important, record keeping, materials preparation, and the communal responsibilities of faxing, filing and finishing paperwork
- Candidates must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree related to Communication Disorders (or graduate master's in SLP) and be eligible to receive an SLPA license in the state of TX, if not already licensed OR eligible for CF-SLP Tx provisional/intern licensure
- Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Responsibilities
Select and adapt the speech therapy treatment model, method, and approach to direct the process of interventions based on the client's needs
Apply interventions to maximize speech, language, and feeding skills based on the client's individualized needs
Teach clients new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components
Meet documentation deadlines imposed by business and/or outside agencies (health plans)
Guide and educate family members and caregivers
Observe, note, and report on progress of long- and short-term treatment goals
Collect data and document processes followed
Regularly follow-up with clients
- Follows state and ASHA guidelines for maintaining appropriate documentation for hours and ASHA CCC application processes, in order to submit application for full license (CF-SLPs)
- Checks and responds to messages, texts, and or emails within a reasonable time frame
- Maintain code of ethics set by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a bonus but not required

- Completes work, care and documentation with accuracy (including signatures on notes, time in/out, care plan dates, etc.)
