Location: Shelbyville, Kentucky- Must be local Travel: Minimum within 1-2 hour range using a personal vehicle, overnight stays about 5 days a month on average

General Statement of Duties:
This individual will assist in the completion of geotechnical projects. Perform field geotechnical explorations and investigations. Training and supervision of lab technicians, maintenance of quality reviews and certifications, management of equipment inventory and calibration, client marketing, and proposal preparation.
Supervision Received and Exercised: Works independently on broad projects under the direction of a Senior Engineer/Project Manager with the overall supervision of a Department Manager. No direct supervisory duties are required but provide direction to associates on a project-to-project basis. Prepares laboratory testing assignments and reviews documents and test results for content and accuracy.
Examples of Duties:

- Must prepare geotechnical engineering reports. Interacts with clients on technical aspects of the projects.
- Reviews soil laboratory test results and related documents prepared by administrative personnel.
- Assist in planning and execution of subsurface investigation programs, including understanding project design plans, locating test borings at project sites, and coordinating underground utility clearance.
- Development of design and analysis of earth embankments, earth retaining structures, and anchoring systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing. Ability to work with others as well as independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. Experience with common geotechnical software or be able to utilize software with minimal training. Must have strong leadership ability. Be self-motivated, reliable, quality minded, and detail-oriented. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering (Master's preferred)
- Passing FE (registered as EI or EIT)) required, PE preferred
- Geotechnical engineering/project management experience required
- Willing to work on both office and field work (fieldwork is about 30% of the time)

Physical Requirements: Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone. Must be willing to travel, and physically able to hike 3 to 5 miles in rough terrain with field gear.
