This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Medical Center. The Telesitter Monitor provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. The first line of action for this position is to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at risk behaviors. Notifies the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Knowledgeable and supportive of the patient, confidentiality and related hospital policies.
Essential Job Outcomes
- Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the Telesitter software.
- Maintains visual observation of the patient at all times.
- Provides prompt notification of appropriate clinical staff if patient requires assistance.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate care to patient population requiring video monitoring.
- Participates in report with the monitor staff when arriving for shift and upon completion of shift.
- Reviews pertinent information and behaviors.
- Provides patient with explanations as necessary but does not counsel or provide opinions.
- Seeks help or advice as soon as possible when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others.
- Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues.
- Monitors for and maintains patient environmental safety. Notifies clinical staff of potential safety hazards.
- Seeks assistance with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to primary caregiver.
- Demonstrates safe work practices and attitude.
