Program Specialist VI
The Program Specialist VI is selected by and reports to the Director of Medicaid/CHIP Data Analytics within DAP. The Data Analyst provides key research, analytical and reporting function for the Data Analytic team to support case management, identification of anomalies relating to clients, providers, service utilization, payment methodologies, and compliance with Medicaid/CHIP contract requirements. The Data Analyst performs highly advanced Medicaid/CHIP program research activities under minimal direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The Data Analyst develops and implements research and analytical procedures using advanced statistical techniques to assess the validity of methods and/or procedures for appropriate application. The Data Analyst coordinates project design, planning, statistical analysis, and/or reporting; writes advanced scripts and code for computer based statistics applications; plans and/or conducts highly advanced research and program evaluation on the agency’s Medicaid/CHIP programs. The Data Analyst provides consultation and assistance to Medicaid/CHIP staff in developing methods and strategies for more effective reporting of Medicaid related data and analyses. The Data Analyst also prepares a variety of reports, studies or other deliverables containing analyses of Medicaid services data, methods, procedures, and relevant sources to the administration and understanding of Medicaid/CHIP program and issues. The Data Analyst performs other duties necessary to achieve the mission of HHSC.

EJF 3. Prepares a variety of written, oral, and graphical deliverables containing analyses of Medicaid/CHIP data, methods, procedures, and relevant sources to enhance Medicaid/CHIP contract management and detects data trends. Time Spent: 30%

Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Initial Selection Criteria:
Four years college in social and behavioral sciences, natural sciences, or related degree.
Three years or more work and experience with collection, analysis, and dissemination of health and human services data and/or large datasets preferred. Educational and work experience may substitute for each other.
Previous experience visualizing or presenting data preferred.
